Thoughts about Covet-ness

In the Christmas Season 2020 we are all still lingering from the effects of the pandemic of 2020. COVID-19 is raging and taking many lives. But there is a vaccine that is being rolled out to inoculate our citizens against this deadly virus. Then to put an end to the pandemic and the fears associated with it. We have previously talked about the sin of Pride. This is the same sin that Satan is guilty of. Satan attempted to elevate himself to the level of God. In our eagerness to have access to information especially from social media we frequently put ourselves on a self designed platform to see ourselves through a rose colored lenses. We can create a profile that enhances every factor of our personality. We suddenly become bigger than life in the presentation of ourselves and our abilities. We have to have this or that, We need this brand of clothing the latest cell phone and on and on. Facebook is the largest mirror and virtual Mall of this time.

Every vendor is trying to sell us something that we need to make ourselves better. The overall effect of the social networks is to make us less satisfied with ourselves. We covet whatever can seemingly make us better. Better looking, better dressed, better equipped with the latest technology. And so on it goes. Ironically none of this will make us happier and satisfied. What makes us happy is raising our consciousness and understanding that the All merciful God, Jesus Christ loves each and every one of us. Even with our sins we are forgiven and shine in the eyes of our Savior.

We are after all made in His image. In Genesis Chapter 1 vs. 26, after God had created the firmament and all that is within it, He says, let Us create Man in Our image. And so here we are created in the image of the Lord of Lords the King of Kings. We are entitled to free will and can refuse Gods blessings or we can choose to live and pattern our lives to honor and obey Gods commandments.

In this choice we will live fulfilled and happier lives with a close relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ.
