Thoughts about Bethlehem

12-10-2020
In this time of the great pandemic of 2020 that has infiltrated the entire world. I come back to the words of the Scripture from the Holy Bible, the Book of God. The wisdom contained in the words and pages of the bible are as true today as the day that they were written.

In particular my thoughts go back to the Old Testament and the writings that foretells of the Birth of Christ. In the book of Mica Chapter 5, Vs. 2 the Scripture reads that the Bethlehem which is small among the clans of Judah: One will come from you to be the ruler over Israel for Me. His origin is from antiquity, from eternity. Therefore, He will abandoned them until the time when she who is in labor has given birth. This was foretold some 500 years before the birth of our savior.

Here in these words 500 years before the birth of our Savior Christ the Lord, the prophet Mica is foretelling that Jesus will be born in the town in Judea, Bethlehem. Bethlehem this tiny village is of the greatest importance. It is also the place where the greatest of infant side took place.

When King Herod called the Sanhedrin together to ask them where the Christ child will be born. They answered e that scripture has the birth of the Christ child taking place in the hamlet of Bethlehem. Here Herod orders his soldiers to slay all male babies under the age of two. Such a massacre of the blood of innocents.

It is no coincidence that Jesus Christ came into the world. Born of the Virgin Mary in a stable in the town of Bethlehem. This is the beginning of the greatest Story ever told. The savior of mankind entered the world. God in the flesh to be crucified for the sins of mankind.

When you are reflecting this Christmas Season, 2020, turn your thoughts to the tiny hamlet of Bethlehem and the significance that this town place in the course of human history.
