The “gospel of prosperity”, also called ” gospel of health and wealth,” “gospel of the determine and claim” or “gospel of greed,” is one of the fastest growing emphases in the contemporary church. Initially prominent in Pentecostal and charismatic churches, it is now widespread through various ecclesiastical denominations and traditions.

The gospel focuses primarily on material possessions, physical well-being and success in this life: it mainly includes abundant material resources, health, clothing, homes, cars, job promotions, business success as well as other life ambitions. This gospel affirms that believers are entitled to the blessings of health and wealth and that they can obtain these blessings through positive confessions of faith and “sowing and reaping” by faithfully paying tithes and offerings.
