Dear Father God,
I pray that you would comfort families and others who lost loved ones on September 11th. Please bring encouraging and merciful people alongside them. Let them come to know the love of the Father through your son in Jesus name.” Rev. Thomas Luke
18 The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
Psalm 34:18 (NIV)
34:18 brokenhearted … crushed in spirit. A broken and contrite heart indicates the humility of one who has truly repented of sin (51:17). However, in this context brokenness (parallel to “crushed in spirit”) is the result of external, hostile forces (cf. 31:12; 69:20; 109:16; 147:3). The Lord compassionately saves those who have been beaten down in this way.
