How Does Technology Affect People’s Values and Motives?

In this study, I want to look at how technology affects our values and moral judgment, in particular our relationships with each other, and the effects of new media, and more specifically Smartphones and the effect on our lives. Our digital devices are a form of technology that is increasingly present in our daily lives, yet many people are not sure just what the effects are on their everyday life. There is a real danger here that we become immune to the problems, and as a result our values and moral judgment will be eroded. In the final part of this article I am going to write about the implications of technology on Sleep Disorder, and how it can be used to our benefit to combat the increasing problem. Our digital world makes it very easy to carry both work and leisure around with us, it is possible to fit in an hour or two of entertainment on a mobile phone, and without even realizing it we could be missing out on important social moments and valuable company. There is also a danger that we could alienate our friends and family if we do not take the time to discuss the effects of technology on our health and relationships.

What is the relationship between values and technology in our society today? Do people put themselves above technology? Is there anything to be said for individual freedom? The most important question in all of this is the impact that technology has on our mental health and relationships. We have to ask ourselves if people are responsible for the effect that technology has on our lives and how we can hold people accountable to ensure that they are using mobile phones in a way that is beneficial to them, and not negatively affecting their own health and relationships.

A recent survey found that one-third of adults use a smartphone. That is a huge amount of people and it is clear that smartphone use has a major influence on public opinion. We all need to ask ourselves if the benefits of technology are outweighing its negative influences and if we are allowing our children and future generations to be influenced by technology in a way that is not good. It is clear that more work needs to be done to ensure that we make the right decisions when it comes to the use of technology.
