2021 has been the year of savagery when it comes to Christians in various countries in Africa, Middle East, South Asia, and Central America. Christians have been brutally murdered in the Congo, Kenya, Uganda, Pakistan, and Darfur. Sexual assault cases involving girls as young as 11 were reported in the Congo. In the month of October, an entire village in Zaire was slaughtered when the locals discovered that a local Christian girl had been married to a Muslim. The brutal murder was reportedly organized by members of a local Islamic radical group who targeted the Christian community because of their religion.
In Kenya, Christians have been targeted by Muslims in mosques, abducted, beaten, or killed for their faith. This is in addition to the ongoing problem of rape and other forms of sexual harassment documented in many communities throughout Kenya. In March, a pastor was hacked to death inside his church in Kenya’s Rift Valley. Two months earlier, Christians from all over the country took to the streets in protest against religious abuses perpetrated by Muslims. More than 200 churches were destroyed by angry Muslims.
In India, Christians have faced brutal violence in several states, including Aceh, Assam, and Orissa. Incidents of forced conversions to Islam have also increased, with Muslims forcibly converting to Christianity or forcing others to convert to Islam. There have been increased reports of targeted rape, murder, and eve teasing of girls in rural areas. Christians have also been sexually molested, threatened, or beat on a daily basis for their beliefs. Christians have faced incredible levels of harassment and violence due to their religious beliefs, such as following their religion, not being able to shake off the Christian influence in their lives, or merely being a non-practicing Christian. In some cases, Christians who are suspected of being gay are brutally beaten and even killed.
